Prospect Lefferts Gardens is a neighborhood in the Flatbush area of Brooklyn. In 1660 it was originally settled by a Dutch colonist as part of broader colonization where forts, settlements, plantations, and trading posts were established. Nearly 300 years later, descendants divided the land into lots and sold it to developers.

Today, most of the people in this Brooklyn community are Caribbean-American and African-American. However, over the past 15 years or so, the populations of other ethnic groups are increasing as the process of gentrification takes place.
